Strategy Backtest

Turn a trading idea into a YAML strategy, backtest it with realistic costs, and read expectancy, drawdown, and trade stats with in-sample and out-of-sample kept apart.

⚠️ **Trading warning / Avertissement trading** : informational only, not investment advice. A backtest describes one simulated past; it cannot certify that a strategy will make money, and most backtested ideas fail live. Curated by Skill Harbor: the backtesting workflow of the Weaxs stock-analysis-plugin. You express a strategy in a small YAML language (entry and exit conditions over indicators such as RSI, moving averages, MACD, volume ratio, and Bollinger position, combined with AND or OR logic, plus stop-loss, take-profit, position size, and cost settings for slippage, commission, and stamp tax), then run it over a chosen symbol and date range with the repo's tools/backtest.py. The report leads with expectancy alongside win rate and payoff ratio, then max drawdown, losing streaks, trade count, and average holding period, with the actual cost assumptions printed from the run itself. The workflow insists on separate in-sample and out-of-sample windows, treats parameter changes as hypotheses to test rather than improvements to accept, caps optimization at three rounds, and only optimizes when you explicitly ask. From the Weaxs/stock-analysis-plugin repository (MIT). Honest caveats: the source SKILL.md is written in Chinese and the default fee examples are A-share conventions (the stamp tax line simply does not apply on many markets); settlement rules, price limits, and corporate-action adjustments may not be simulated, and the report is supposed to list what was left out; a good-looking curve on one symbol and one period is the weakest evidence there is. Skill Harbor never reviews the code, review it yourself before use.

How to check a build before installing →

Use "Strategy Backtest" with your Muse. Prerequisites: clone the repo once (git clone https://github.com/Weaxs/stock-analysis-plugin) and keep the folder handy; Python 3.10 or newer. Backtests run the repo's tools/backtest.py on historical data fetched through the plugin's multi-source pipeline (several sources are free, a few such as Tushare, Finnhub, or Alpha Vantage need their own free API key or token). No brokerage account is required. Heads-up: the source SKILL.md is written in Chinese, and its default fee examples follow A-share conventions, so set the cost fields for your own market. 1. Open the skill: https://github.com/Weaxs/stock-analysis-plugin/blob/main/skills/strategy-backtest/SKILL.md and copy the full SKILL.md text. 2. Paste it into a chat with Muse and add: "Write the YAML for an RSI oversold bounce strategy, backtest it on this ticker over two separate windows, in-sample and out-of-sample, and report expectancy and max drawdown for each." 3. Compare the two windows before touching any parameter: if the out-of-sample result collapses, the strategy was fitted to the past, not discovered. Tip: keep the example strategies in the repo's strategies/examples folder as starting templates instead of writing the YAML from a blank page. Safety: a skill is plain-text instructions; it runs nothing by itself. This is informational only, not investment advice.

Questions

How do I install a build?

Every product page includes a copy-paste install prompt. Paste it into your Muse and it sets the build up for you — no manual configuration.

Where does my money go?

Straight to the seller. Skill Harbor never processes payments: checkout happens on the seller’s own page, usually Stripe.

What does the ✓ next to a creator’s name mean?

It means we confirmed the identity of the person behind the listing. It says nothing about the code itself — always check a build before installing it.
