Yahoo Finance Data

The data-fetching foundation skill: pull Yahoo Finance quotes, price history, financial statements, options chains, dividends, estimates, holders, and news for any ticker with the free yfinance Python library.

⚠️ **Trading warning / Avertissement trading** : informational only, not investment advice. This skill fetches and presents market data; it draws no conclusions and makes no recommendations. Curated by Skill Harbor: the general-purpose data skill that the rest of the himself65 finance collection builds on. Give it a ticker and a need, and it routes to the right yfinance call and presents the numbers first, with the supporting table after: current quotes and price history, income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow (annual or quarterly), options chains, dividends and splits, earnings history, analyst estimates, price targets, ratings and upgrades or downgrades, institutional and insider holders, company overview and sector data, headline news, multi-ticker bulk downloads for comparisons, and stock screens. The practical rules that make the library behave are baked in: wrap calls in error handling because Yahoo can rate-limit or return empty frames, list option expirations before pulling a chain, respect intraday data limits, and handle the timezone-aware timestamps correctly. If your question is really an earnings preview or recap, a valuation, a correlation, a liquidity check, or an ETF premium question, the skill itself points you to the dedicated analysis skills in the same repository instead. From the himself65/finance-skills repository (MIT). Honest caveats: you need Python 3 with pip (the skill installs yfinance itself if missing); yfinance is an unofficial library that is not affiliated with Yahoo, and its data can be delayed, rate-limited, incomplete, or occasionally wrong, so cross-check anything decision-critical against primary sources such as the company's own filings. Skill Harbor never reviews the code, review it yourself before use.

How to check a build before installing →

Use "Yahoo Finance Data" with your Muse. Prerequisites: Python 3 with pip and an agent that can run Python code. The skill installs yfinance itself if it is missing. No API key and no paid data subscription are required; the data comes from Yahoo Finance via the free yfinance library and can be delayed. 1. Open the skill: https://github.com/himself65/finance-skills/blob/main/plugins/market-analysis/skills/yfinance-data/SKILL.md and copy the full SKILL.md text (the skill also reads its included references/api_reference.md with code for every data category, keep the repo folder handy). 2. Paste it into a chat with Muse and ask for the data in plain words, for example: "Fetch the last five quarters of income statements and cash flow for [TICKER]" or "Compare the price history and dividends of [TICKER A] and [TICKER B] over two years" or "Show me the options chain and analyst price targets for [TICKER]." 3. Sanity-check anything surprising against a second source before using it: an unofficial feed can return stale or empty data without making that obvious. Tip: one clear request per message gets the cleanest table; combine tickers in a single ask when you want a comparison, since bulk download is faster. Safety: a skill is plain-text instructions; it runs nothing by itself. This is informational only, not investment advice.

Questions

How do I install a build?

Every product page includes a copy-paste install prompt. Paste it into your Muse and it sets the build up for you — no manual configuration.

Where does my money go?

Straight to the seller. Skill Harbor never processes payments: checkout happens on the seller’s own page, usually Stripe.

What does the ✓ next to a creator’s name mean?

It means we confirmed the identity of the person behind the listing. It says nothing about the code itself — always check a build before installing it.
