⚠️ **Trading warning / Avertissement trading** : informational only, not investment advice. Trading involves real risk of loss, and most breakout candidates fail; a detected pattern is not a promise of returns. Curated by Skill Harbor: a screener for Mark Minervini's Volatility Contraction Pattern (VCP), the setup where a stock in a Stage 2 uptrend pauses in a series of progressively tighter pullbacks, volatility dries up, and price coils just under a breakout pivot point. The default run scans the top 100 pre-filtered S&P 500 candidates and flags valid VCPs with their execution state (pre-breakout or breakout); a strict mode returns only those two states. A separate historical mode walks one ticker's multi-year price history (about 5 years by default, up to 10), detects every VCP that ever formed, and attaches forward-outcome statistics to each: breakout, stop-hit, or timeout, days to outcome, maximum gain and loss, which makes it useful for studying how the pattern actually behaved on a name you follow. Results land in timestamped JSON and report files via the skill's Python script. From the tradermonty/claude-trading-skills repository (MIT). Honest caveats: a Financial Modeling Prep (FMP) API key is required (the free tier's 250 calls per day is enough for the default screen; the full S&P 500 mode needs FMP's paid tier). Pattern detection is mechanical and produces false positives; Minervini's own method pairs the pattern with strict position sizing and market context, which this screener does not do for you. Skill Harbor never reviews the code, review it yourself before use.

Install
Copy the install package below, then paste it into MuseThe install prompt below already includes the vetting steps: your agent follows the community checklist before installing anything with executable code. Want more?
Use "VCP Screener" with your Muse. Prerequisite: this skill needs a Financial Modeling Prep (FMP) API key (FMP_API_KEY environment variable or --api-key). The free tier (250 calls/day) covers the default top-100 screen; the full S&P 500 mode needs FMP's paid tier. The skill itself is free and open source. Python 3.9+. 1. Open the skill: https://github.com/tradermonty/claude-trading-skills/blob/main/skills/vcp-screener/SKILL.md and copy the full SKILL.md text. 2. Paste it into a chat with Muse and add: "Screen for VCP setups in strict mode" or "Find every historical VCP in [TICKER] and show the forward outcomes." 3. Treat the output as a watchlist: confirm the base, the pivot, and your stop before considering any trade. Tip: the historical mode on a ticker you know well is the fastest way to learn what this detector counts as a VCP. Safety: a skill is plain-text instructions; it runs nothing by itself. Never paste your FMP key into the chat itself, set it as an environment variable. Trading involves real risk of loss; this is informational only, not investment advice.

Questions
How do I install a build?
Every product page includes a copy-paste install prompt. Paste it into your Muse and it sets the build up for you — no manual configuration.
Where does my money go?
Straight to the seller. Skill Harbor never processes payments: checkout happens on the seller’s own page, usually Stripe.
What does the ✓ next to a creator’s name mean?
It means we confirmed the identity of the person behind the listing. It says nothing about the code itself — always check a build before installing it.
