IB Tactical Collar

A tactical collar report for a PMCC position in your IB account before earnings: put choices by duration, gap scenarios, and the cost of protection versus going unprotected.

⚠️ **Trading warning / Avertissement trading** : informational only, not investment advice. Connected to the live port, this skill reads a real brokerage account holding real money, and the hedge it recommends costs real premium: a collar report is a decision worksheet, not protection you already own, and skipping or mispricing the hedge around earnings carries a real risk of loss. No output here is a promise of return. Curated by Skill Harbor: a tactical collar strategy report for one PMCC position in your Interactive Brokers account, built for the specific moment the strategy is fragile, the run into earnings or another high-risk event. The script reads your actual position (the long LEAPS call with its strike, expiry, quantity and cost, plus your short calls), checks the structure's health (a proper PMCC has the short strikes above the long strike; a broken one, where a drop has pushed the long call out of the money, needs margin for its shorts), pulls the next earnings date and the days remaining, and prices protective puts at several durations with their profit and loss under gap up, flat and gap down scenarios, set against what the unprotected LEAPS loses on a 10 or 15 percent drop or gains on a 10 percent rise. The agent then writes the full report from the repo's template: position summary, health check, earnings risk, put duration comparison (short-dated puts are cheap with more gamma but no salvage on a gap up, medium-dated two to four weeks balance cost and salvage, long-dated puts keep value but cost more), collar scenarios, cost and benefit, an implementation timeline, and a recommendation naming the put strike and expiration. The collar concept itself is tactical: buy the puts only before the event, sell them after it passes. It runs as a Python script (scripts/collar.py, needs the ib-async library) from the staskh/trading_skills repo, against TWS or IB Gateway on your own machine, on the symbol you name, which must be in the portfolio. From the staskh/trading_skills repository (MIT). Honest caveats: the symbol must already be a PMCC position in the account it reads, and the automatic port fallback shared by this repo's IB skills makes confirming paper versus live essential before acting on the numbers; scenario math is computed from current quotes and historical volatility and cannot price a real gap, which can jump past every modeled level; and as documented the skill gathers data and writes a report, placing no orders, so any hedge still has to be entered by you in TWS. Skill Harbor never reviews the code, review it yourself before use.

Use "IB Tactical Collar" with your Muse. ⚠️ REAL BROKERAGE ACCOUNT, READ THIS FIRST: this skill connects to Interactive Brokers through TWS or IB Gateway running on YOUR machine with the API enabled. You log in inside TWS or Gateway yourself; never paste account credentials, passwords, or account numbers into a chat. The default port 7497 is a PAPER account with simulated money; port 7496 is your LIVE account with real money. Start on paper, and know that if the configured port fails the skill retries the other port, so always confirm which account type answered before trusting the numbers. Prerequisites: an Interactive Brokers account with an existing PMCC position on the symbol you will analyze, TWS or IB Gateway installed and running locally with API access enabled, and the repo cloned (git clone https://github.com/staskh/trading_skills); the skill needs the ib-async library, installed through the repo project, and its scripts run with uv (uv run python) or plain python. Set IB_PORT in your shell or a .env file if you do not want the default. 1. Open the skill: https://github.com/staskh/trading_skills/blob/main/.claude/skills/ib-collar/SKILL.md and copy the full SKILL.md text. 2. Paste it into a chat with Muse and add: "On the paper port, build the tactical collar report for my NVDA PMCC ahead of earnings: position and health check, days to earnings, the put choices by duration with gap up, flat and gap down outcomes, the unprotected loss at minus 10 and minus 15 percent, and your recommended put. Tell me which port and account type answered." 3. Read the cost and benefit section as an insurance decision, not a trade idea: the premium is gone in the flat and gap up cases, and that is the price of the gap down case. Tip: run it early enough that the medium-dated put is still cheap; the same report two days before earnings prices a much more expensive hedge. Safety: a skill is plain-text instructions; it runs nothing by itself. As documented this skill gathers data and writes a report and places no orders; any hedge is entered by you in TWS. This is informational only, not investment advice, and your IB credentials stay in your local gateway, never in a chat.

Questions

How do I install a build?

Every product page includes a copy-paste install prompt. Paste it into your Muse and it sets the build up for you — no manual configuration.

Where does my money go?

Straight to the seller. Skill Harbor never processes payments: checkout happens on the seller’s own page, usually Stripe.

What does the ✓ next to a creator’s name mean?

It means we confirmed the identity of the person behind the listing. It says nothing about the code itself — always check a build before installing it.
