Best AI Skills Libraries and Directories, Compared Honestly

Disclosure first: this page is published by Skill Harbor, one of the directories below. We are not going to pretend otherwise. What we can do is state our check date (October 11, 2026), compare on facts you can verify, and name — for every competitor — at least one place where it beats us.

The short version

There are three kinds of places to find AI skills. Automatic indexes (skills.sh, mcpservers.org) crawl GitHub and list enormous numbers of skills with little or no curation. Curated libraries (AI Agents Library, agenticskills.io) keep a small catalogue a person has actually written or reviewed. Open marketplaces/directories (Skill Harbor) sit between: a large catalogue, but every listing is a real product page from an identified creator, with an install prompt that does the work. Which one is "best" depends entirely on whether you want volume, guidance, or installation.

Where each one beats us

skills.sh beats us on volume and plumbing. If you want the firehose — every skill published to GitHub, installable from a CLI — that is the firehose. We will never out-crawl it, and we do not try: our bet is that a checked listing beats a raw index entry when a beginner is deciding what to run.

mcpservers.org beats us on being wired into the agents themselves. It shows up inside the search protocols agents use, so discovery happens without a human ever visiting a website. That is a distribution trick worth respecting — and copying, eventually.

AI Agents Library beats us on teaching. Every one of its 67 skills comes with a long guided page, worked examples and a training academy behind it. If you are a non-technical business owner who wants to be taught, not just handed a listing, their hand-holding is ahead of ours today.

agenticskills.io beats us on ranking transparency. Its S/A/B tiers tell you at a glance what the curator thinks is best. Our listings carry verification and test badges, but not a curator's league table.

agentic-awesome-skills beats us on GitHub-native simplicity. One repo, everything in the open, no account, no website to trust. For developers who live in Git, that is hard to argue with.

Where we think Skill Harbor wins

  • Installation: every listing carries a copy-paste install prompt — your Muse fetches, safety-checks, installs and verifies. Nobody else in this table makes the agent do the whole install as the default flow.
  • One assistant, done properly: everything here is built and tested for Muse first, instead of being generic across ten tools.
  • Creators are real parties to the deal: creators claim their pages, set their own price and checkout, and get paid directly. A listing here is a storefront, not just an index card.
  • Bilingual: the directory, the listings and the install prompts run in English and French.

How to choose

  • Want everything that exists, and you can vet code yourself → skills.sh or the GitHub library.
  • Want to be taught, step by step, as a beginner → AI Agents Library.
  • Want a curator's shortlist → agenticskills.io.
  • Want skills for Muse, installed by your agent, from identified creators → that's us.

Frequently asked questions

What is the biggest AI skills directory?

What is the best library for beginners?
For guided learning, AI Agents Library. For installing into Muse and moving on, a copy-paste install directory like this one.
Are these directories free?
