The freshness hierarchy goes cheapest-correct first — a served docs tool/MCP if available, then the docs page as markdown (far fewer tokens than HTML) or the component's README at the pinned version, then a general web search treated as version-unverified. For exports you're unsure exist, it verifies against the installed package in node_modules — the installed types are the ground truth for this version, more authoritative than any docs.
